Our History
Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1886 by Rev. Edward James Henry.
With only twenty-four charter members, the church began humbly, worshiping by kerosene lamp and heating with wood stoves. Yet even then, God’s hand was evident.
Through faithful leadership, sacrificial service, and unwavering trust in God, Mt. Zion grew steadily—expanding its facilities, strengthening its ministries, and deepening its impact in the Snow Hill community.
Across decades, Mt. Zion has remained committed to prayer, worship, and outreach, adapting to the needs of each generation while staying anchored in biblical truth.

A vision for the future
Under the leadership of Pastor Joe L. Poe, Mt. Zion has embraced a vision of spiritual growth, community outreach, and generational empowerment—leading to expanded ministries, community prayer initiatives, outreach programs, and the development of new church facilities.
